Emergency Alarm Button and Example SMS

The Doro PhoneEasy 615 has an emergency alarm button that when activated (by a 3 second push) will:
  1. Make a loud audible alarm sound (and on screen give the user a chance to cancel the alarm in case of a false alarm)
  2. Sends a pre-set SMS message to up to five mobile numbers
  3. Turns on the speaker phone and then dials those numbers in sequence until someone answers the call.
This provides protection and peace of mind to the phone user and their families. You choose who to SMS and ring. For example a husband, a neighbour, a daughter, a doctor, 111 emergency. You can program land lines and mobile phone numbers (land lands will not get SMS just the voice call).

Today I set up a Doro phone SMS message for my mother in law.. here's an example prewritten SMS names changed for privacy reasons

Emergency alarm from Jenny White. She might be at home Ph 02 8011 3138 at 130 Homestead St, Sydney. Husband John’s mobile is 04 123 4567. Now dialing her emergency contacts.

Jenny had the phone set to call her husband, her daughter (my wife), her other daughter and lastly emergency services. She was going to ask a neighbour if she could add her as a 4th contact, before emergency services.

The phone dials the numbers in sequence.

In an aged care situation or where there is active monitoring say of a patient the call could be directed to the nurses station.

Configuration steps are:
  1. Menu>Settings>Emergency>Activation - standard preset is On Normal (which is a 3 second push)
  2. Menu>Settings>Emergency>Numbers list - select an empty slot and choose a name from the address book or type the number manually. Repeat.
  3. Menu>Settings>Emergency>SMS>Activation - typically already set to ON, turns on the SMS function ready for emergency alarms
  4. Menu>Settings>Emergency>SMS>Message - write your message here.
Its recommended you tell people on the emergency list you are setting it up and test it to make sure the phone numbers are entered correctly etc. Then they know not to panic when they get the SMS! Its also good so they can see the message and know what your SMS emergency message looks like.

Then in an emergency if you can only do one thing, you press that button for 3 seconds.

Compare the Doro PhoneEasy 615 to the Telstra EasyCall2

Here is a comparison of the Doro PhoneEasy 615 to the Telstra EasyCall2

Its just my working document turned into a PDF...  so no fancy graphics. :-)

You can see that across the board Doro beats the Telstra phone hands down.

Speaking of hands, just ask customers to dare to compare. Let them hold a live Doro PhoneEasy 615. No brainer. Better quality, packed with more features and designed and ADAPTED for seniors.

Doro doesn't make cheap phones. We make phones that are specifically adapted to the needs of Seniors.

Too often people are fooled (or fool themselves) into buying a cheap phone, then they find they cant hear it, see it or use it easily. They get frustrated and they dont use it. This doesn't happen with Doro phones.

Tip - Doro PhoneEasy 615 - SMS & Address Book

We recommend that when you add addresses to the Address Book you include the country code prefix. This ensures that the caller name appears on inbound calls and messages.

Just add +61 before their number in the address book, you can remove the first 0.

eg 04 123 456 789  becomes +61 4 123 456 789
